Dental Examination / Assessment
A dental examination involves a thorough assessment of your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. It is always the first step before any major dental treatment, allowing your dentist to gain a complete understanding of your oral condition and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan.
Dental Examination & Assessment
Dental X-ray Assessment
The first step is taking dental X-rays. The number of X-rays required depends on your individual needs. If you have damaged teeth, multiple fillings, crowns, or other dental restorations, more images may be needed than for someone with healthy teeth. A standard dental examination typically includes four X-rays.
Clinical Examination
The second step is a clinical examination of your teeth and gums. During this examination, your dentist records the number of teeth, reviews any previous dental treatment, checks for cavities, and assesses your gum health by measuring gum bleeding and the depth of the gum pockets.
Information and Treatment Planning
Once the examination is complete, your dentist will discuss the findings with you and develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs. We will present the available treatment options, explain the advantages and disadvantages of each, and provide information about the materials that may be used. You will also receive a written treatment plan, a cost estimate, and a copy of your examination report.
